A research project that refused to stay a spreadsheet.

FindSolar.ca began with a simple brief: index every residential solar installer in the country and read what they actually publish. 1,165 companies indexed across 12 provinces and territories. 716 websites reviewed in depth. What we found was an industry where the panels are nearly identical and the companies are anything but: pricing hidden behind sales visits, warranties described in a sentence, and homeowners expected to sign five-figure contracts on trust.

So we built what we wished had existed: a plain-language guide to the whole job, free calculators with no email walls, and an installer index that nobody can pay their way into.
